Historia y distribución/History and distribution: Cited by Liogier & Martorell (1982), Liogier (1985 [1: 209]), and Liogier & Martorell (2000) as grown as an ornamental and as cultivated and naturalized by Acevedo-Rodríguez (2005), but excluded as only under cultivation by Axelrod (2011). However, cited as naturalized in Puerto Rico in the Flora of the West Indies (Acevedo-Rodríguez & Strong 2015).
