Historia y distribución/History and distribution: Cited by Britton & Wilson 1925 [V(2): 289] as escaped from cultivation into woodlands at higher elevations, and subsequently by Liogier & Martorell (1982), Liogier (1997 [V: 295]) and Liogier & Martorell (2000). Axelrod (2011) treated this as only under cultivation, but this is cited as naturalized in Puerto Rico in the Flora of the West Indies (Acevedo-Rodríguez & Strong 2015).
