Historia y distribución/History and distribution: A rare vine scattered at low elevations. Major geographic regions following Axelrod (2011): Southern Coastal Lowlands (Laguna Guánica as Sintenis 3619 in Acevedo-Rodríguez 2005), Northern Coastal Lowlands (Dorado), Western Coast (Mayagüez). Botanically unique areas following Axelrod (2011): none. Also reported from Sabana Grande (Sintenis 7019 in Acevedo-Rodríguez 2005). Acevedo-Rodríguez (2005) cited this as “apparently exotic” in Puerto Rico, Acevedo-Rodríguez & Strong (2012) cited is as native to Puerto Rico, while Acevedo-Rodríguez & Strong (2016) cite it as “native?” to Puerto Rico while considering it to be native to Hispaniola and Cuba. The inferred native status from Axelrod (2011) is native.
