Historia y distribución/History and distribution: Un arbusto o árbol pequeño citado como recolectado en la Sierra de Yabucoa y determinada por Urban (Britton & Wilson 1930, Liogier & Martorell 1982, Liogier 1995 [IV:48], Liogier & Martorell 2000); el espécimen fue reportado como estéril. Excluído por Axelrod (2011) como una presencia dudosa, pero mantenida como especie aceptada para Puerto Rico por Acevedo-Rodríguez & Strong (2012, 2016) y otros. No hay registros de esta en MAPR (Jeanine Vélez, com. email 2016).

A rare shrub or small tree cited as collected in the Sierra de Yabucoa and determined by Urban (Britton & Wilson 1930, Liogier & Martorell 1982, Liogier 1995 [IV:48], Liogier & Martorell 2000); the specimen was reported as sterile. Excluded by Axelrod (2011) as a doubtful occurrence, but maintained as a valid species by Acevedo-Rodríguez & Strong (2012, 2016) and others. There are no records of this at MAPR (Jeanine Vélez, email comm. 2016).
