The West Indies (Lesser Antilles [St. Barthelemy], Greater Antilles [Puerto Rico, Hispaniola?, Jamaica]) and Mexico; scattered. The type is from St. Barthelemy in the Lesser Antilles, but not included in the Plants of the Eastern Caribbean website.

Shafer (1870 NY) en el borde de la Laguna Guánica (Acevedo-RodrĂ­guez & Strong 2005, Axelrod 2011). No hay registros de esta en MAPR (Jeanine VĂ©lez, com. email 2016). / A rare herb collected once in 1913 by N.L. Britton and J.A. Shafer (1870 NY) on the edge of Laguna Guánica (Acevedo-RodrĂ­guez & Strong 2005, Axelrod 2011). There are no records of this at MAPR (Jeanine VĂ©lez, email comm. 2016).

(1975), quienes la clasificaron como una especie en peligro endĂ©mica de Puerto Rico (especie No. 125). Fue listada como Elemento CrĂ­tico por el DRNA en 1988 y 1999, pero fue removida en 2007. No fue incluida como una especie conocida de tres o menos localidades en Puerto Rico y las Islas VĂ­rgenes por Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996) o por Figueroa Colon (1996).

This was first listed as a rare species in Puerto Rico by Woodbury et al. (1975), who classified it as an endangered species endemic to Puerto Rico (species No. 125). It was listed as a Critical Element by DNER in 1988 and 1999, but was removed from the 2007 list. It was not included as a species known from three or fewer locations in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands by Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996) or by Figueroa Colon (1996).
