South Florida History and Distribution: Ranked as critically imperiled in Rare Plants of South Florida (Gann et al. 2002; pp 221-222) based on one extant occurrence in Big Cypress National Preserve. Using updated NatureServe criteria there are two occurrences - one in the vicinity of the Bear Island Campground and one in the Kissimmee Billy Strand area.
