South Florida History and Distribution: Ranked as presumed extirpated in Rare Plants of South Florida (
Gann et al. 2002, p 76), based on two collections in Fort Myers from 1902 and 1926. In 2016, Keith Bradley made a collection possibly attributed to this species in western Broward County (
Bradley 5003 USF), in a disturbed wetland on a road shoulder. However, a survey of this site by George Gann in 2022 failed to locate any plants. Because determinations of
Cuscuta from dried specimens are difficult, we re-ranked this to possibly extirpated in 2023, until a verification of the identification can be verified by a
Cuscuta specialist.
