A small bird measuring up to 6 inches in length. Olive-drab, streaked, with bright olive rump, and bright yellow undertail coverts. Under parts vary from yellow to whitish buff. Adults in spring have a rufous cap.
Range:
Breeds in northern Noth America and winters in the southeastern North america, Central America, and the West Indies.
Habitat(s):
Open places, especially weedy fields and the borders of marshes.
Reproduction:
4 or 5 brown-speckeled white eggs are laid in a grass nest placed on the ground in a grass clump, often at the base of a small tree or bush.
Food:
This species feeds on insects and fruit.
Comments:
Can be found in South Florida during the winter months only. This species has a distinctive habit of wagging its tail.
