Description: Grass-like deciduous perennial to 3 feet tall. Star shaped pale blue or whiteish flowers. Foliage turns golden in the fall.
Dimensions: Up to 3 feet in height.
Range:
Southeastern North America south to Highlands County.

Habitats: Sandhills
Soils: Dry, well-drained sandy soils, without humus.
Nutritional Requirements: Low; it grows in nutrient poor soils.
Salt Water Tolerance: Low; does not tolerate flooding by salt or brackish water.
Salt Wind Tolerance: Low; salt wind may burn the leaves.
Drought Tolerance: High; does not require any supplemental water once established.
Light Requirements: Full sun to light shade.
Flower Color: Pale blue or white
Flower Characteristics: Showy.
Flowering Season: April-November.
Fruit: Thin seed pods
Horticultural Notes: Seedlings flower the second year after germination.
