An accent or specimen tree in residential or commercial landscapes. Also useful in buffer plantings.
Ecological Restoration Notes: An extremely rare natural hybrid in the wild.
Availability:
Available at native plant nurseries in South Florida.
Description: Medium tree or large shrub.
Dimensions: Typically 15-18 feet in height in cultivation. Often taller than broad.
Growth Rate: Moderate.
Range:
Known from a few wild specimens in the Florida Keys and Palm Beach County; Cuba. A natural hyrbid between Pigeon-plum (
Coccoloba diversifolia and Sea-grape (
Coccoloba uvifera).

Habitats: Rockland hammocks and maritime hammocks.
Soils: Moist, well-drained sandy or limestone soils, with humusy top layer.
Salt Water Tolerance: Low; does not tolerate long-term flooding by salt or brackish water.
Salt Wind Tolerance: Moderate; grows near salt water, but is protected from direct salt spray by other vegetation.
Drought Tolerance: Moderate; generally requires moist soils, but tolerant of short periods of drought once established.
