                Commonly available at native plant nurseries in central Florida.
             
  			
              
Range:
                 Peninsular Florida in eastern coastal counties from Brevard County south to Broward County, rare in Highlands County, and reported for Lee County; West Indies, southern Mexico, Central America and South America. Most common in Martin and northern Palm Beach counties; perhaps extirpated in Brevard and Broward counties.

             Salt Water Tolerance: Low; does not tolerate long-term flooding by salt or brackish water.
 			
            
Salt Wind Tolerance: Moderate; grows near salt water, but is usually protected from direct salt spray by other vegetation.
 			
              
Wildlife and Ecology: Provides significant habitat for invertebrate associates.
  			
             
Horticultural Notes: Can be grown from seed.
