Description: Perennial herb 2-5 feet tall with elliptic leaves 5-8.5 inches long all along the stem. Pink to purple flowers along the stem.
Dimensions: Typically 2-5 feet in height.
Range:
Liberty and Calhoun counties and one county in southern Georgia.

Habitats: Open, xeric woods and ravine bluff tops.
Soils: Dry, well-drained sandy soils, without humus.
Salt Water Tolerance: Low; does not tolerate flooding by salt or brackish water.
Salt Wind Tolerance: Moderate; grows near salt water, but is protected from direct salt spray by other vegetation.
Drought Tolerance: High; does not require any supplemental water once established.
Light Requirements: Moderate to light shade.
Flower Color: Purple.
Flower Characteristics: Showy.
Flowering Season: September to October.
Wildlife and Ecology: Attracts pollinators.
