Description: Small herbaceous wildflower.
Dimensions: About 6-12 inches in height. Taller than broad.
Growth Rate: Moderate.
Range:
Endemic to Florida from Broward and Collier counties north to Duval County and the eastern Florida Panhandle. Collected in Miami-Dade County but apparently not native there.

Habitats: Pinelands.
Soils: Moist, well-drained sandy soils, without humus.
Nutritional Requirements: Low; it grows in nutrient poor soils.
Salt Water Tolerance: Low; does not tolerate flooding by salt or brackish water.
Salt Wind Tolerance: Low; salt wind may burn the leaves.
Drought Tolerance: Moderate; generally requires moist soils, but tolerant of short periods of drought once established.
Light Requirements: Full sun.
Flower Color: Blue.
Flower Characteristics: Showy.
Flowering Season: Spring.
Fruit: Inconspicuous capsule.
